5 c tart apples, cored, peeled and sliced thin
1/2 c quick cooking oats
1/2 c all purpose flour
1 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 Tbsp white sugar
1/2 c butter, softened
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp ground nutmeg
whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for topping, if desired

Steps:

  • 1. Spread the apples in a lightly greased (or sprayed) loaf pan.
  • 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, white sugar, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until thoroughly incorporated.
  • 3. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
  • 4. Bake in a preheated 375-degree oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are done.

This is my mother's recipe and one of my favorites. It's a classic dessert topped with vanilla ice cream. It goes down way too easy!

4 cups sliced peeled tart apples
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup butter
vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Grease 8x8 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Evenly distribute apples on bottome of pan.
  • In a bowl, combine sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, and allspice; cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle mixture over apples and bake at 375 for 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender.
  • Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream.

½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup rolled oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups chopped peeled apples
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine the first 4 ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press half into a greased 2-1/2-qt. baking dish or a 9-in. square baking pan. Cover with apples. , In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch, water and vanilla. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 2 minutes or until thick and clear. Pour over apples. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. , Bake 60-65 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm, with ice cream if desired.
