This sandwich may sound unappealing, but it's actually very tasty, especially on cold winter days! Legend has it that this was a favorite of The King.

3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 slices white bread
1 banana, peeled and sliced
3 slices cooked bacon
1 ½ teaspoons butter

Steps:

  • Spread the peanut butter on one side of one slice of bread. Top with sliced banana, then slices of cooked bacon. Cover with the other slice of bread. Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Fry the sandwich on each side until golden brown and peanut butter is melted, about 4 minutes total.

2 cups roasted unsalted peanuts
1/4 cup peanut oil
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup heavy cream
8 slices banana bread
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 ripe bananas
1 cup panko (Japanese) bread crumbs
1/4 cup peanut oil
4 teaspoons honey

Steps:

  • For the peanut puree: Place the peanuts in 1/4 cup of peanut oil in a small saute pan and heat for 3 minutes at low heat. Transfer to a blender and puree until smooth.
  • For the bread: Mix eggs, vanilla and heavy cream together in a bowl. Dip banana bread into the mixture. Melt butter in a nonstick pan and cook banana bread for 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Place bread on a paper towel and reserve.
  • For the bananas: Cut bananas into quarters and dip into the same egg mixture as above, then roll the bananas in the bread crumbs until well covered. In a nonstick pan, heat 1/4 cup of peanut oil until nearly smoking and fry bananas until golden brown, remove from oil and place on a paper towel as well.
  • For assembly: Spread both sides of banana bread with peanut puree and layer with the fried bananas. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon of honey. Close the sandwich and slice.

12 slices bacon
2 bananas
1 cup mascarpone cheese
6 tablespoons chocolate-hazelnut spread
8 thick slices crusty white bread
Salted butter, for the bread

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Arrange the bacon slices side by side on a parchment-lined baking sheet; bake until crisp, 15 to 18 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  • Meanwhile, place the bananas in a small bowl and mash with a fork until smooth. Fold in the mascarpone until combined.
  • Spread a thick layer of chocolate-hazelnut spread on 4 bread slices, then top each with 3 bacon slices. Spread the banana-mascarpone mixture on the remaining 4 bread slices, then place on top to make 4 sandwiches.
  • Spread butter on both sides of the sandwiches. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Working in batches if necessary, cook the sandwiches on each side until GBD-golden brown and delicious.

  • Slice the banana lengthwise to make 4 thin pieces and place on top of peanut butter on one slice of bread.Top with bacon slices and thendrizzle with honey.
  • Place the sandwich on the griddle and cook about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Slice in half and serve and enjoy.
