HOMEMADE MOUNDS BARS

Homemade Mounds Bars image

A copycat version of mounds bars is easy to make at home with this homemade mounds bar recipe.

Provided by Lynn Walls

Time 2h35m

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 -14 ounce bags of coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 lb powdered sugar
3 cups of chocolate chips
2 teaspoons of butter

Steps:

  • In a large bowl mix together the coconut, sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 cup butter, and powdered sugar. Mix to combine well.
  • Spread mixture onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper ( I like to my silicone baking mat.) Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Melt 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of butter in the microwave stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Spread over chilled coconut mixture and chill until chocolate is set.
  • Flip bars over and carefully peel or parchment paper. Melt remaining chocolate and butter. Spread over the coconut layer. Chill.
  • After firm, bring to room temperature and then cut them into pieces. If the chocolate is solid these will be hard to cut. I bring them to room temperature to cut them, and then put them back in the refrigerator to store them.

These taste just like the candy bar! I sometimes add almonds to make it like an Almond Joy. Very Yummy! I don't know exactly how many servings this makes, it depends on the size you would like.

1/2 cup melted butter
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups flaked coconut
1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted

  • Spread the melted chocolate chips over the top. Let cool and cut into squares.
  • I usually sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and put back into the warm oven for a minute or so and then spread it over the bars with a butter knife.
  • Sometimes when you cut the bars after the chocolate hardens, the squares don't come out very uniform. Try taking a butter knife while the chocolate is still warm and run it over the bars in the sizes you want, so that when the chocolate does harden the pieces come out better.
