These mushrooms are the quintessential topping for all types of steak. Also excellent over baked potatoes. I have people calling me and asking me for the recipe even years after I have made them for them. They are that good!!

3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons butter
1 pound button mushrooms, sliced
1 clove garlic, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon red cooking wine
1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce, or more to taste
¼ teaspoon garlic salt, or to taste
freshly ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir mushrooms, garlic, cooking wine, teriyaki sauce, garlic salt, and black pepper in the hot oil and butter until mushrooms are lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low and simmer until mushrooms are tender, 5 to 8 more minutes.

1 clove garlic thinly sliced
1 tablespoon red cooking wine or to taste
tablespoons 1 to 2 teriyaki sauce or to taste
Garlic salt to taste
Fresh ground pepper to taste
(I have always made this recipe without any given measurements so I am only giving approximates. You can add more of less of an ingredient to your particular

Steps:

  • In a larger saucepan over med heat add olive oil and butter. Once butter has started to melt add mushrooms. Add each additional ingredient stirring occasionally. Taste as you go to ensure it is to your liking.
  • Once mushrooms and sauce begin to cook reduce heat to low and simmer until mushrooms are tender but not soggy.
  • Serve over grilled steak. Also excellent over baked potatoes.
