SHRIMP WITH SPICY BLOODY MARY SAUCE

Shrimp With Spicy Bloody Mary Sauce image

This is no ordinary shrimp dip. the sauce is a zesty blend of diced tomatoes, worcestershire sauce, paprika and garlic, spiked with a touch of vodka. This recipe was created with the popular Bloody Mary drink in mind. Taking the ingredients I like in the drink, adding some consistency to the blend with the canned diced tomatoes and bottled chili sauce. Although the seasoning and tapatio lend a bit of heat, it doesn't overpower the other flavors. Serve in mini martini shot glasses gives your guests a personal and unique appetizer. Great for entertaining Shrimp and sauce can be made 1 day ahead. Cook time does not include chill time.

SPICY CAJUN BLOODY MARY MIX

Spicy Cajun Bloody Mary Mix image

I made gallons and gallons of this stuff during Mardi Gras in the French Quarter this year. It's delightfully spicy and flavorful without being over powered with heat.

Provided by graniteangel

Categories     Beverages

Time 10m

Yield 8-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (64 ounce) container tomato juice
2 tablespoons creole seasoning
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon horseradish
1 teaspoon steak sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 lemon, juice of

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together in a pitcher or jug of some sort until the creole seasoning is completely dissolved. I like to use an empty gallon jug or something with a top so I can shake all the ingredients together. You can use right away, but I prefer to let it sit in the fridge and "mingle" for a few hours.
  • When making drinks with the mix try rimming your glasses with creole seasoning. Pickled green beans, pickled okra, lemon, lime and of course an olive make for a wonderfully garnished spicy cajun mary.
  • You can always add more or less creole seasoning and tabasco to taste.
  • Make sure to have extra tomato juice on hand to "dilute" to people's personal taste preference. I sometimes had to add half mix and half juice for my customers who couldn't handle the heat.

SPICY BLOODY MARY MIX

Spicy Bloody Mary Mix image

My father-in-law first introduced me to this homemade bloody mary mix. It is very similar to what you'd buy in a store. Made as is, it is very spicy. You can customize it to your taste by cutting back on the pepper and hot sauce; I like about half the pepper and hot sauce. Enjoy this wonderful mix! It is so easy and much cheaper than buying pre-made mix.

SPICY BLOODY MARY

SPICY BLOODY MARY image

Categories     Tomato

Number Of Ingredients 10

0.5 cups mix. Best, Mr. & Mrs. T's Bold & Spicy Bloody Mary Mix.
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp horseradish. Best, freshly ground. Better, pre-ground, coarsely, with little water. Okay, pre-ground and mushy.
1 tsp garlic. Best, freshly pressed or chopped...your preference. Pressed releases the oil, which I prefer. Better, pre-chopped. Bad, garlic powder--don't use it.
1/2 tsp black pepper. Best, crushed peppercorns (place in baggie or folded plastic wrap, and either beat with tenderizer or crush with spine of chef's knife). Better, coarsely ground peppercorns. Bad, finely ground pepper from shaker--don't use it.
1/2 tsp Tabasco.
1/2 tsp salt. Best, sea salt. Better, coarsely ground salt. Okay, table salt.
1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar. Better, good stuff. Okay, bad stuff. In the end, you're just going for vinegar's tang.
1/4 tsp celery salt. Better, good stuff. Beware: celery salt is bitter, too much you'll want to cry--and pour your drink down the drain.
vodka

Steps:

  • Don't forget the garnish.... Stir continually...or the garlic and pepper will lurk on the bottom to surprise you with your last gulp.
