Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups nonfat dry milk powder
3/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup reduced-sodium chicken bouillon granules
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container., For a condensed cream soup substitute: Whisk 1/3 cup mix and 1-1/4 cups water in a small saucepan until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Cool. Use as a substitute for one 10-3/4-oz.-can condensed cream of chicken, celery or mushroom soup. , For 1-1/2 cups soup: Whisk 1/3 cup mix and 1-1/2 cups water in a small saucepan until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

Found online from the Utah State University Extension Service. This is similar to other dry cream of ?? soup mixes. Look for other recipes that call for this mix specifically. I will post the recipe numbers here after approved.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups non-fat powdered milk
3/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup instant chicken bouillon
2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
2 teaspoons italian seasoning

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a re-closeable plastic bag.
  • Store in plastic bag or air-tight container until ready to use. It does not need too be refrigerated.
  • To substitute for 1 can of cream soup in a casserole: Combine 1/3 cup of dry mix with 1 1/4 cups cold water.
  • Cook and stir on stove top or in microwave until thickened.
  • Add thickened mixture to casserole as you would a can of soup.

2 c powdered non-fat dry milk
3/4 c cornstarch
1/4 c instant chicken bouillon (regular or low-sodium)
2 Tbsp dried onion flakes*
1 tsp basil, dried*
1 tsp thyme, dried*
1 tsp white or black pepper*

Steps:

  • 1. *You can substitute the herbs that you prefer, or wait to add them to the soup or sauce that you are making.
  • 2. Mix all the ingredients well and store in a tightly zipped Zip-Lock bag. This mix does not require refrigeration.
  • 3. If you want to gift this mix, you can use a recipe card for the gift card and include this recipe on it.
  • 4. Combine 1/3 cup of dry soup/sauce mix with 1 1/4 cups of cold water. Whisk until well blended.
  • 5. Cook and stir on stove top or in microwave until thickened. Add thickened mixture to casseroles as you would a can of soup (or just EAT it!!).

My mom use to make this dish for our dad who was in the army, because he was givin it to eat when ever the army who send him away. Mom use to call it S.O.S. Then my mom started making it for my brothers David who oined the Navy & my brother James who joined the Marines. In the main pic to this recipe is a pic of 3 of my brothers....

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb hamburger
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup, fat-free
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 c water
4 slice bread

Steps:

  • 1. First in a large saucepan brown the hamburger over nedium heat. Season with a little of the salt & pepper.
  • 2. Next mix in the mushroom soup & water. Bring to a boil, taste to see if you need more salt & pepper.
  • 3. Then toast the bread before serving. Place 2 slices of toast on the plate them pour a laddle full of the cream of hamburger over the toast.
  • 4. Then add all four of my borthers to the table & they will know what it is with a saying a word.
