CRANBERRY-ROSEMARY JULEP

2 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons frozen cranberries
Two 1-inch snips of rosemary, plus 2 sprigs, for garnish, optional
1/2 cup bourbon, such as Woodford Reserve
2 orange twists

Steps:

  • Muddle the sugar, cranberries and rosemary in a cocktail shaker until crushed and bruised. Add the bourbon and some ice. Shake for 1 minute.
  • Empty the contents of the shaker into 2 rocks glasses. Garnish each with an orange twist and a rosemary sprig, if desired.

2 1/2 ounces vodka
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
1 dash grenadine

Steps:

  • Fill shaker 2/3 with fresh ice.
  • Go light on the grenadine, it's more like a few drops. Maybe 1/4 tsp?. Look at the picture, it's very pale.
  • Add ingredients.
  • Shake and strain into chilled cocktail glass.

ROSEMARY COSMOPOLITAN

Cosmopolitans are a fantastic introductory cocktail, easy to make and absolutely gorgeous to look at. Here's a classic version featuring vodka, cranberry juice and lime juice that adds a simple syrup infused with fresh rosemary for a piney kick. It's a great go-to cocktail for the holidays and beyond.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 ounces vodka
1 ounce cranberry-apple juice
1 ounce fresh lime juice (from about 1 lime)
1 ounce Rosemary Simple Syrup
Ice cubes, for shaking
Sprig fresh rosemary
2 cups granulated sugar
7 to 10 sprigs fresh rosemary

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail glass with ice water to chill.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, cranberry-apple juice, lime juice, rosemary simple syrup and ice. Shake vigorously until very cold, 15 to 30 seconds.
  • Remove the ice water from the glass and strain the drink into the chilled glass. Garnish with rosemary and enjoy!
  • Combine the sugar, rosemary and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and allow to steep for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Transfer the syrup to a squeeze bottle or airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Strain out the rosemary before using. Makes 2 cups.

  • Cran-Rosemary Sparkler
  • For each drink, muddle 4 cranberries, 1 sprig rosemary and 3/4 ounce maple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add 2 ounces gin and 3/4 ounce each cranberry juice and sweet vermouth. Add ice and shake vigorously, then strain into a chilled coupe glass. Top with champagne; garnish with rosemary.
  • Cranberry Kir Royale
  • For each drink, combine 1 ounce cranberry juice and 1/2 ounce creme de cassis in a flute. Add a cranberry and top with champagne.
  • NYC Cosmopolitan
  • For each drink, combine 1 1/4 ounces each vodka and simple syrup, 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice and 1/4 ounce each citrus vodka, orange liqueur and cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously, then strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
