The first time I had this cake was back in the early 80's. My cousin was visiting from California and made this for a BBQ. We all loved it!

Steps:
- 1. Prepare yellow cake mix according to directions in a jelly roll pan. Cool completely.
- 2. Cook vanilla pudding and milk. I use my microwave. Bring to a boil. Cool in refrigerator. Cover with saran wrap do it does not form a skin.
- 3. Beat vanilla pudding and cream cheese together very well with mixer. Fold in Cool Whip.
- 4. Frost the cake.
- 5. Sprinkle pineapple over pudding, cream cheese & Cool Whip mixture.
- 6. Sprinkle evenly with coconut. Then sprinkle with pecans.
- 7. Use cherries to decorate cake/add color.
- 8. Keep cake refrigerated.
