Vermont Maple Cookies image

3/4 cup Butter
1/2 cup Brown Sugar (Firmly Packed)
1 Egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 1/4 cups Flour
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Maple Syrup
1/2 cup Chopped Walnuts

Steps:

  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Beat in egg and vanilla.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt, and add to creamed mixture alternately with maple syrup.
  • Blend well and fold in nuts.
  • Scoop up about 2 tablespoons of dough with a spoon and drop it on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Repeat with remaining dough.
  • Top each cookie with a walnut half, or extra chopped walnuts.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes at 400°F.
