NEW YORK STRIP STEAK AND MOLASSES STEAK SAUCE image

I GOT THIS RECIPE FROM THE NEELY'S ON FOODNET WORK AND I MADE THIS FOR A GATHERING OF FRIENDS AT MY HOME AND THEY LOVED IT, NOW THEY WANT TO COME OVER AGAIN JUST FOR THIS STEAK!!!!

1 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 medium onion, finely diced
2 clove garlic, minced
2 c ketchup
1/2 c molasses
1/2 c apple cider
1/4 c sugar
3/4 c lager-style beer
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp worestershire sauce
1 Tbsp cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp paprika
3 (1 pound each and (1/2 -inch) thick prime-aged new york strip steaks
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. FOR THE SAUCE: IN A MEDIUM SAUCEPAN OVER MEDIUM HEAT, MELT BUTTER. ADD ONION AND GARLIC AND SAUTE FOR 3 MINUTES, UNTIL SOFTENED.
  • 2. ADD THE REST OF THE INGREDIENTS; BRING TO BOIL, THEN SIMMER UNTIL SAUCE IS REDUCED TO 2 CUPS, ABOUT 30 MINUTES.
  • 3. PREHEAT GRILL PAN. SEASON STEAK WITH SALT AND PEPPER AND RUB WITH OIL. GRILL STEAK 3 MINUTES PER SIDE FOR MEDIUM-RARE. LET REST 10 MINUTES AND THEN SERVE WITH SAUCE ON THE SIDE.
