The Bramble image

This gin cocktail took the world by storm in the 1980s. The Broken Shaker's Gabriel Orta shows you how to add crème de mûre (blackberry liqueur) to create the signature "bramble" effect. Sweet, springy, and fresh, this drink is the perfect way to toast warmer weather!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 ounces dry gin, preferably Beefeater brand
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup, heat equal portions water and sugar until sugar dissolves
Ice cubes
Crushed ice
3/4 ounce crème de mûre (blackberry liqueur), preferably Monin brand
Lemon wheel
Fresh blackberries

Steps:

  • In a cocktail shaker, add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Fill with with ice cubes. Cover and shake briefly, about 10 seconds. Uncover and use a strainer to pour the cocktail into a rocks glass. Fill glass to the top with crushed ice. Drizzle blackberry liqueur over the ice, creating a "bramble" effect. Garnish with a lemon wheel and blackberries skewered with a cocktail toothpick. Serve immediately.
