THAI BEEF WITH BASIL AND CHILI image

Number Of Ingredients 14

1.5 lbs tenderloin tips, cut into strips
1 red pepper, cut into strips (and any other veggies)
8 tbsp veg oil
4 tsp chopped garlic
8 fresh hot chilies, chopped
4 tsp fish sauce
4 tsp sugar
4 tsp soy sauce
4 tbsp oyster sauce
8 tbsp water
20 whole leaves fresh basil
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tbsp water
2.5 freshly steamed rice

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a wok or large frying pan on high heat until it is just about to smoke. Add beef and stir fry for 2 minutes. Add garlic and chilies and stir fry briefly. Do not let burn. Add fish sauce, sugar, and soy sauce and stir fry for 1 minute. Add oyster sauce and water and cook for 30 sec Add peppers (and any other veggies) and 3/4 of basil leaves. Stir fry for 2 minutes. Dissolve cornstarch in water, add to wok to stir fry for 1 minute until sauce has thickened. Serve over steamed rice with remaining fresh basil on top. Enjoy!!
