Strawberry Pizza image

This is a great recipe any time of the year- nice as a snack or for dessert. Your friends are bound to ask you for the recipe! This recipe uses white cake mix but try other mixes such as yellow, chocolate, strawberry , or lemon. Try this recipe with other fresh fruits or canned pie fillings too!

CRUST:
18 oz pkg. white or yellow , lemon or coconut cake mix
1/2 c butter, melted
1/2 Tbsp almond extract
TOPPING:
8 oz pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 c powdered sugar
2 c sliced fresh strawberries
1 c granulated sugar
1/4 c cornstarch
2 c crushed strawberries

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350^. Crust: Combine cake mix, melted butter and extract in a large mining bowl, until well combined. Press onto bottom and slightly up the sides of a large pizza pan, ungreased. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until tested done with a toothpick and the surface is firm to the touch. Set aside. Cool completely on wire rack.
  • 2. Topping: In a large bowl of the mixer, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Set aside. In a large saucepan blend remaining ingredients until blended. Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook and stir for 2 minutes, until thickened. Cool slightly.
  • 3. Spread the cream cheese mixture over crust and then spread the fresh sliced berries over the cream cheese mixture and then spread the cool crushed berry mixture evenly over the sliced berries. Chill until serving time
