Southern Fried Chicken Milk Gravy image

I love a thick milk gravy with fried chicken. It's pure comfort food for me. I start out with these proportions but I end up finishing the gravy by 'feel'. I usually add more milk by the end.....just a little bit at a time until I'm happy with the consistency. If you like your gravy thinner....go ahead and add some water until you're happy with it.

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 tablespoon(s) grease from fried chicken
2 tablespoon(s) flour
1 cup(s) milk
salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • After frying chicken, pour off all grease except about 2 tablespoons.
  • Leave any chicken bits in the pan also.
  • Add flour and stir over medium-high heat until flour is medium brown.
  • Add milk and cook until thick.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Note: This makes about 2 cups of gravy. It can easily be increased to make more.
