1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup molasses
1 1/4 teaspoons ginger
3/4 teaspoon clove (optional)
1/3 teaspoon nutmeg
3 eggs
3/4 cup buttermilk

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients and pour into a greased pan.
  • Add spices to suit your taste.
  • Bake 20 minutes at 350*.
