Seasoned Deep-Fried Black-Eyed Peas image

Blogger Paula Jones from Bell'alimento puts a new twist on a Southern New Year's Day tradition. Seasoned Deep-Fried Black-Eyed Peas are super crunchy on the outside, creamy and dreamy on the inside. They make a great appetizer or game-time snack!

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 cups vegetable or canola oil
1 cup frozen black-eyed peas, thawed
1 tablespoon seafood seasoning (from 6-oz container)

Steps:

  • In deep 2-quart saucepan, heat oil to 325°F. Line plate with layers of paper towels to absorb oil after cooking peas.
  • Carefully place peas in hot oil; cook 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Using wire strainer or skimmer, transfer peas to plate. Immediately sprinkle with seasoning.
