Yield 6 people

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pre-made pie crust
3/4 large white onion
2 dinner sausages (chicken apple, or chicken garlic and herb) cut into small bites
1 small carton egg substitute
1/4 cup reduced fat milk or heavy cream
1/4 - 1/2 cup shredded cheese
3 tbsp. sugar
fresh rosemary
garlic
Pam cooking spray, olive oil or butter

Steps:

  • Thaw pie crust for 10 minutes, while oven pre-heats to 400 degrees. Begin carmelizing onions with sugar, on low heat. Poke holes in crust, then bake for 10 minutes. Allow pie crust to cool for 5 minutes. Remove carmelized onions from pan, warm sausage and garlic, while crust cools. For a decadent treat, add some butter to the pie crust, before adding the fillings. Add onions in a single layer to the pie crust. Then add the sausage as a second layer. Add the cheese as a layer. Finally, add the rosemary. Mix milk and egg, as with scrambled eggs. Pour into the pie crust until the egg reaches the top of the crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes, until egg is fully cooked. Allow quiche to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
