Steps:
- Cream sugar and butter or margarine. Add eggs and vanilla; beat till fluffy. Stir together flour, baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt; blend into creamed mixture. Cover, chill 1 hour. Divide dough into quarteres. On floured surface roll 1 portion of dough to a 9-inch cake pan atop dough; trim edges. With a knife, cut circle into 8 wedges. Transfer wedges to lightly greased cookie sheet. Lift tip of each wedge and fold over to the left about 1inch from top to form Santa's hat. Place 1 cherry-flavored candy near the center of the wedge to form a mount. use gum drops for eyes. Brush bottom edge of triangle, the edge of the hat, the tip of the hat lightly with water. Sprinkle with pearl sugar to form fur on hat and beard. Bat at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool. Repeat with remaining dough.
