SALISBURY STEAKS WITH ONIONS AND PEPPERS image

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 tablespoons butter OR margarine (1/4 stick)
4 medium sized onions, sliced
2 medium sized green peppers, sliced
1 pound ground beef
1 cup fresh bread crumbs (2 slices bread)
1 egg
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup water
2 tablespoons catsup
1 tablespoon dry sherry
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce

Steps:

  • 1. In 12-inch skillet over medium heat, in hot butter, cook onions and green peppers until tender. Remove to platter. 2. Meanwhile, in bowl, mix beef, bread crumbs, egg, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Shape mixture into four 1/2-inch patties. 3. In same skillet over medium-high heat, cook patties about 5 min for medium rare or until desired doneness, turning once. Arrange patties on platter with onions and peppers. 4. Into droppings in skillet over medium heat, stir flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt; cook 1 min. Add water, catsup, sherry, and soy sauce; cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens slightly; pour sauce over patties.
