Steps:
- 1. Split the vanilla beans with a sharp knife and chop into half inch pieces. Place Vodka, chopped beans and corn syrup in an airtight glass container. Store in a cool place for 3-6 months. You will have usable extract in about a month give or take. Shake the container once a week. When bottling I put a few pieces of bean in each bottle.
- 2. Use 12 beans per pt. Use 24 beans per qt. Use 96 beans per gal.
- 3. Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans are the best however other kinds will work. http://www.amadeusvanillabeans.com/ Do not discard your beans. Add more vodka and use them again. It will not be as strong but, it will still be good vanilla.
