POTATOES WITH GRUYERE CHEESE image

2.5 lbs. red potatoes, dlice 1/8" thick
2 c. heavy cream
1 c. half and half
1 large clove garlic, minced
1.5 t. salt
pepper
nutmeg
1.5 c. grated gruyere cheese

Steps:

  • Combine cream, half and half, garlic, salt, pepper, and spinkle of nutmeg in pan. Bring to a boil. Add potatoes and stir well. Cover and simmer slowly for 25 minutes or until tender stirring often. Pour potato mixture into shallow baking dish and dust lightly with nutmeg. Sprinkle with cheese and a little more nutmeg. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes until top is golden. Serve immediately
