This is a Spice quick bread adapted from an Eggless Milkless Butterless Cake. Great for Vegans.

Steps:
- 1. Grease and flour a loaf pan preheat oven to 350° Combine raisins and 1/1/2 cups hot water and let stand about 15 to 20 minutes.
- 2. Using an electric mixer cream brown sugar and shortening for about 5 minutes Stir together flour, baking powder, allspice, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and soda
- 3. Drain raisins and reserve the water. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture a little at a time and beat well, Alternating with raisin water after each addition. Then fold in raisins and walnuts. Pour into prepared loaf pan, shake slightly to even out the batter. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
- 4. Bake for about40 to 45 minutes. If the top begins to burn place a piece of foil loosely over the top.
