Old-Fashioned Holiday Fruit Salad image

I remember my Mamma making this every Thanksgiving or Christmas. It was a tradition that went on for many years. I found a handwritten version of this recipe folded and put in one of my old cookbooks.

2 8 oz packages cream cheese
1/2 c sugar
2 (12 oz) containers frozen whipped topping, thawed
6 bananas, peeled and sliced
2 can(s) (15.25) crushed pineapple, drained
2 can(s) (15.25) fruit coctail, drained
2 granny smith apples, peeled and chopped
1 1/3 c sweetened, flaked coconut
2 jar(s) (4 oz) marischino cherries, drained and halved
1 c pecans, chopped
1 c golden raisins

Steps:

  • 1. Beat the cream cheese and sugar together in a large bowl.
  • 2. Using a hand mixer on high speed, beat in the whipped topping.
  • 3. Gently fold in the bananas, pineapple, fruit cocktail, apple, cherries, pecan pieces and raisins.
  • 4. Pour into a serving dish and chill at least 2 hours before serving.
