Old Fashioned Apple Crisp image

I learned to make this from my mother. I have no idea where she learned it from. Knowing my family, she probably learned it form her mother or grandmother. Anyways, its awsome tasting, and best served warm with a scoop of French vanilla icecream on top!

Number Of Ingredients 12

FOR THE FILLING
6 large apples or 10 small apples, peeled, cored and cut up
1/2 c granulated sugar
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter
FOR THE CRUMB TOPPING
1 c all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 c brown sugar well packed
1/3 c granulated sugar
1/2 c butter, softened

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 375 to Place apples in a lightly greased baking dish.
  • 2. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and sprinkle over apples; lightly toss to mix. Dot with 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3. Combine next three ingredients by hand until consistancy of a coarse meal.
  • 4. Sprinkle mixture over apples. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
