Norman Rockwell's Oatmeal Cookies image

This unusual cookie recipe , is said to be Norman Rockwell's favorite cookie. Like his painting, the recipe is simple, straightforward, and classic. Bake a batch today for a taste of true Americana! Although I have not tried this recipe yet , I thought you might like to try this great artist all-time favorite recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
1 c light brown sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 c water
2 large eggs, well beaten with the water
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 c all purpose flour, sifted
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 c oatmeal, about
1/2 c chopped nuts (walnuts preferred)

Steps:

  • 1. Mix in order and drop on baking sheet. Bake 400^ 7 to 8 minutes. Then run under broiler to brown. I know, but that's what the recipe says.
