Nonna's Italian Cream image

My grandmother, Ida, made this every Christmas. It is light and delicate and just something different than regular whipped cream. Wonderful alone, or on a pie, or a cookie ... be warned, it is addictive! My youngest daughter, Diana, 12, loves this cream with everything.

Number Of Ingredients 6

15 ounce(s) whole milk ricotta - well drained
3 ounce(s) cream cheese - room temperature
3 tablespoon(s) heavy cream
7 tablespoon(s) sugar
1/4 teaspoon(s) almond extract
- maraschino cherries/pistachios

Steps:

  • Blend well drained ricotta with the cream cheese using a hand mixer on low speed or by hand.
  • Add heavy cream, sugar and almond extract. Mix well.
  • Spoon into a decorative bowl and top with maraschino cherries (pistachios crushed or any other favorite topping). Chill at least one hour before serving. Enjoy!
