MOM'S PIE CRUST RECIPE image

Number Of Ingredients 8

*FOR DOUBLE PIE CRUST
2 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
1 CUP SHORTENING (non-hydrogenated)
5 TBSP ice water
1 TBSP vinegar (add to water)
pinch SALT
add only enough of the vinegar water to make the dough come together. Too much will make a tough pastry.
don't overhandle the dough or it will be tough

Steps:

  • * roll dough out gently from center in one direction, turning as you go. work quickly. * do on lightly floured wax paper & then you can easily flip it onto pie dish. Mom says roll over pin, but flipping is easier! **Place pie on baking sheet and bake in oven at '425 for 15 minutes, lower rack. Reduce heat to '350 & continue baking for 35-40 minutes or until pastry is golden
