Michael Symon's Cast Iron Pork Pie image

Try this delicious pork pie recipe by the master of meat himself, Michael Symon! Note: Any other meat may be substituted to your liking with a change up of some spices.

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 pound(s) ground pork
1 cup(s) celery, chopped
2 large onions, chopped
1/2 cup(s) fresh parsley, chopped
1 pinch(es) ground nutmeg
1 cup(s) aged cheddar, grated
3 cup(s) prepared mashed potatoes
1/2 pound(s) bacon, medium diced
1/2 cup(s) celery leaves, chopped
2 clove(s) garlic, chopped
1 pinch(es) ground cinnamon
1 large pinch salt
2 cup(s) kale, roughly chopped, vein removed
- salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a cast iron skillet, brown bacon and pork and remove from pan and reserve. To the same pan , add a drizzle of olive oil, onions, kale, celery, garlic,cinnamon, salt, pepper, and nutmeg and sweat for 2 minutes; then add the pork and bacon back to pan with a splash of water. Mix, then add parsley and celery leaves and stir in to combine. Spread mashed potatoes over pork and sprinkle with grated cheddar. Bake at 450^ until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes, garnish with celery leaves and serve.
