Makeover Caramel-Pecan Apple Pie image

Number Of Ingredients 15

7 cup(s) sliced peeled tart apples
1 teaspoon(s) lemon juice
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1/4 cup(s) finely chopped pecans
1/4 cup(s) packed brown sugar
2 tablespoon(s) sugar
4 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon(s) cornstarch
1 - unbaked pastry shell (9 inches)
FOR THE TOPPING
2 tablespoon(s) all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon(s) sugar
2 tablespoon(s) cold butter
1/4 cup(s) finely chopped pecans
1/ cup(s) caramel ice cream topping, room temperature

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice and vanilla. Combine the pecans, sugars, cinnamon and cornstarch; add to apple mixture and toss to coat. Pour into pastry shell.
  • In a small bowl, combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans. Sprinkle over filling.
  • Bake at 350° for 55-60 minutes or until filling is bubbly and topping is browned. Immediately drizzle with caramel topping. Cool on a wire rack.
