Macaroni and Cheese Casserole image

My husband loves macaroni and cheese. I have several recipes that I alternate so that we don't get tired of it.

Number Of Ingredients 10

16 ounce(s) elbow macaroni
1 pound(s) cheddar cheese, grated
8 ounce(s) monterey jack cheese with jalapeno peppers, grated
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) black pepper
1 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
1/2 stick(s) butter
8 ounce(s) cream cheese, softened
1 - egg, beaten
5 ounce(s) evaporated milk

Steps:

  • Boil macaroni in salted water, al dente (about 6 minutes). Drain, do not rinse.
  • Add butter and cream cheese, 8 ounces grated cheddar cheese, and grated pepper jack cheese. Combine until cheeses are melted.
  • Combine salt, pepper, dry mustard into a beaten egg. Temper the egg by adding a teaspoon of the hot mixture to the egg and stirring. Add to the macaroni mixture.
  • Pour into a greased casserole dish. Pour the evaporated milk of the casserole and let soak in. Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.
