Lemony Hummus image

Lots of varieties are easily available in stores, but sometimes it's fun to make your own from scratch. Usually it's less expensive, too.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 can(s) chickpeas - garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
1/3 cup(s) tahini
2 clove(s) garlic, grated or minced
2 tablespoon(s) lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon(s) lemon zest (or use more)
1/8 teaspoon(s) cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon(s) black pepper
1/8 teaspoon(s) cumin
1/4 teaspoon(s) sea salt, or to taste
assorted veggies or pita bread, to dip

Steps:

  • Puree chickpeas and other ingredients together until smooth. If too thick, add water, 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve with vegetable crudités. Also good with pita bread wedges or crisps.
