Dads recipe. I'm not sure how close it is to "real" Kaluah, 'cause I've never had anything but homemade. We drink it mixed with milk to taste(I like it about 1/2 and 1/2). Also good on ice cream, and some people put it in coffee. I want to try it in a "Martini in Black". Enjoy

Yield 10-16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 cups sugar
3 cups water
2 cups boiling water
1/2 cup instant coffee
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 (750 ml) bottle vodka

Steps:

  • 1. Boil sugar and 3 cups water over medium heat until thick and syrupy. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  • 2. Combine boiling water, coffee and vanilla. Add to syrup.
  • 3. After the mixture has cooled at least to room temperature add vodka. We store it in vodka bottles and store it in the fridge, although I have never heard of it going bad on the counter.
  • Note: When I double this recipe I use a half gallon of vodka and just enjoy the extra alcohol content.
