Homemade Chili Seasoning image

Make a jar of this and keep it on hand to add to chili, ground beef for tacos or enchiladas, etc. Give it as a gift, too. this is another reason to buy large containers of spices at Cosco/sams

3 Tbsp good chili powder (gephardt's or mexene)
4 x i mix together ancho,guajillo, and chipotle powders
1/2 c ground cumin
1/2 c dry oregano
1/2 c onion powder
1/4 c garlic powder
1/2 c season salt
1/4 c pepper
pinch cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Combine all ingredients, except the garlic powder, in a skillet, turn heat on high and cook until the mixture becomes fragrant and starts to smoke, 20-30 seconds.
  • 2. Let cool, add garlic, mix well. Store in an airtight container.
  • 3. Make about 1 1/3 cups. I use 1 1/2 - 2 tbs. per 1 lb. of ground beef.
