Hamburger Cheese Bake image

This is the first casserole I ever made. Been using the same recipe since 1969. It tastes almost like lasagne, just different pasta. Leftovers, if there are any, are great warmed up the next day. I am making this tomorrow (5/23/21) to take to a family member with a new baby!

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 c chopped onion
2 can(s) tomato sauce (8 oz size)
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp each: salt, pepper and garlic powder
4 c uncooked medium noodles
1 c cottage cheese
1 pkg (8 ounce size) cream cheese, softened
1/4 c sour cream
1/3 c chopped green onions
1/3 c chopped green pepper
1/2 c parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Cook meat and onions. Stir in tomato sauce, sugar, salt, garlic powder and pepper. Remove from heat. Cook noodles.
  • 2. Combine cottage cheese, cream cheese and sour cream, green onions and green peppers.
  • 3. In a pan (13x9 size) spread half the noodles; top with slightly less than half the meat sauce, cover with cheese mixture. Add remaining noodles and meat sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
