Grilled Tri-Tip Asian Inspired image

Tri tip is a great cut of meat marinated and grilled. I love Asian cuisine. So, I decided to come up with an Asian inspired marinade. The steak was a welcome change. My family absolutely loves it.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2-3 pound(s) cut up tri tip beef ( cut in to 2-3 inch wide pieces ( a butcher will cut it, or some times you can find it cut and packaged
1/2 cup(s) soy sauce
1/2 cup(s) sesame oil
1/2 cup(s) vegetable or canola oil
3/4 cup(s) honey
1/2 cup(s) lemon juice bottled, may substitute with balsamic or white vinegar
1 tablespoon(s) fresh gtound black pepper
4 tablespoon(s) fresh pressed or grated garlic
1 cup(s) chopped onion i used a sweet onion
3 tablespoon(s) grated ginger root
- salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Combine all marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well.reserve a half cup of marinade for basting.
  • Place meat in bowl coating all sides.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 6-8 hours. Remove from refrigerator. Remove meat from marinade. Pat with paper towel to dry. Salt-and-pepper the meat.
  • Heat grill to high heat. Start grilling when temperate hits 500-600 degree's. Try to get a nice char on each side.after first flip. Brush meat on cooked side. Continue flipping and basting top every few minutes. The outside should have blackened some what.
  • Grill meat rare to medium rare for the most tender steak. Let steak rest covered with foil 5-10 minutes. Cut on an angle in to slices against the grain. Time to serve.
