Granny's Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies image

I remember going to Granny and Grandpa's house as a little girl. Granny would always have something sweet to eat.

1 cup(s) butter-flavored crisco
1 cup(s) white sugar
1 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup(s) unbleached white flour
1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1 teaspoon(s) salt
3/4 teaspoon(s) cinnamon, ground
1/4 teaspoon(s) nutmeg, ground
3 cup(s) oats, quick cooking
2/3 cup(s) raisins

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine eggs, crisco, white and brown sugars and vanilla with an electric micer at medium speed until well blended and smooth.
  • In a seperate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and spices. Slowly add to creamed mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until mixed. Add oats;stir. Add the raisins and stir again.
  • Roll into walnut-sized balls, coat with white sugar and flatten slightly with a fork.
  • Bake cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until slightly brown around the edges. Cool on cookie sheet for 1/2 minute. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
  • Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
