Fried Apples image

So many wonderful uses for these tasty fried apples. We hope you will enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tbsp bacon grease
2 tbsp butter, salted
6 large green apples, unpeeled, cored, quartered, thick slices
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 - 1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/4 cup water
1/4 lemon, juiced
1 tsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. In a large cast iron pan heat the bacon grease and the butter.
  • 2. Add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt and water, mix well; bring pan to a boil over medium high heat, cover and let the apples steam for 5 - 6 minutes.
  • 3. Lower the heat and remove the lid, continue frying until the apples are tender and the syrup looks like it is jelling.
  • 4. Sprinkle with lemon juice, mix and pour into a serving dish, add a dab of butter on top and enjoy.
