French Toast Skewers image

Dress up the brunch or breakfast table with this fun French toast presentation. Get out the skewers and make these fruity kabobs.

1 Tbsp. MAXWELL HOUSE Instant Coffee
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1 loaf (8 oz.) French bread, cut into medium bite-sized cubes
1 cup fresh pineapple wedges
1 unpeeled orange, cut into wedges
16 maraschino cherries
12 wooden skewers
powdered sugar
maple-flavored or pancake syrup

Steps:

  • Preheat broiler. Dissolve coffee granules in milk in small bowl. Add eggs; beat with wire whisk until well blended. Pour over bread cubes in large bowl; toss to coat. Let stand 5 min. or until egg mixture is evenly soaked up.
  • Thread bread cubes and fruit alternately on skewers. Place on foil-covered baking sheet.
  • Broil 8 to 10 min. or until bread is toasted and cooked through, turning occasionally. Sprinkle with the powdered sugar. Serve with syrup.
