FRENCH AU GRATIN POTATOES image

Number Of Ingredients 6

6-8 potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
2 1/2 lb. swiss cheese (gruyere is best)
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
salt and pepper
2 pints whipping cream

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350 degrees. Butter a large casserole dish, then layer in the following order: Potatoes, seasonings, flour, small pieces of butter, and a large amount of cheese. Repeat until casserole is almost full. Pour cream onto potatoes until it can be seen almost to the same level as the potatoes. Cook for 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours.
