1 package farfel, or toasted barley
1 large onion
1 can mushrooms
2 sticks celery, chopped
Sliced water chestnuts
2 1/2 cups vegetable, chicken or beef broth

Steps:

  • Saute onion and celery in butter or schmaltz. Add farfel. Stir until toasted. Add mushrooms and water chestnuts. Cover with water and simmer until farfel is tender. Add broth and put in oven for 1/2 hour at 300 - 325 degrees.
