ELLEN'S EASY SLOPPY JOES image

This recipe came from a jar of spaghetti sauce and is super easy to make. It is so much better than those canned sauces that you mix with meat! Photo: francescorinaldi.com

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb ground chuck
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 small green pepper, finely chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 c traditional spaghetti sauce with garlic (i like prego)
1 1/2 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • 1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the meat, onion and green pepper until meat is browned and vegetables are tender. Add salt while cooking. Drain fat.
  • 2. Stir in the spaghetti sauce, mustard, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  • 3. When heated through, spoon mixture onto buns and enjoy!
