Easy Toffee image

I have twin grandsons who are now 22 and this is their favorite cookie recipe. I have sent them[the cookies] to grade school to high school and college in surprise boxes. They still ask for them! They are easy to make and everyone loves them-Including my husband.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1Stack saltine crackers
2 stick butter or margarine
1 c light brown sugar [packed]
1 oz 12 ounce pkg. semi sweet chocolate morsels

Steps:

  • 1. Line a large cookie sheet with foil. Lay crackers on foil in a solid cover, crackers touching.
  • 2. Boil butter and brown sugar for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over crackers, spreading to cover all the crackers.
  • 3. Bake at 400 degrees for 5-7 minutes; do not allow the sugar mixture to burn.
  • 4. Remove from oven and allow to set for about 3 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over candy and spread with a spatula as chocolate begins to melt.
  • 5. Refrigerate. Chocolate will harden in about 30 minutes to an hour and candy can be broken into pieces.
