Easy Caramel Snack image

This recipe came about by accident when I wanted to make caramel corn and did not have any popcorn. only corn pops cereal. Well it's corn! Worked great!!!

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/4 c butter or margarine
1 Tbsp light corn syrup
1 c brown sugar, packed
4 c corn pop cereal or more
1/4 tsp baking soda

Steps:

  • 1. Butter a cookie sheet. Heat butter and syrup in skillet over low heat. Stir until blended. Add sugar. Stir until smooth. Continue heating without stirring til bubbly and double in volume. Heat 2 minutes more. Remove from heat add soda and stir down as this will bubble up. Add corn pops cereal. Stir and fold in until thoroughly coated. Spread onto cookie sheet. When cool break into bite size pieces. --- Note: Corn chex work too.Coco Puffs (chocolate) and Trix (fruity) these should work as well by themselves,of course.
