Dog 'N' Suds Coney Sauce image

Grampa says this tastes just like the coney sauce he remembers. Serve on good quality hot dogs (Koegels Viennas if available in your area) with mustard and onions. Leftover sauce freezes well

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb ground beef
1 Tbsp prepared mustard
1/2 tsp a-1 steak sauce
21/2 to 3 Tbsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp tabasco sauce
1 small onion, chopped
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp water
1/4 tsp celery seed
ketchup, as needed

Steps:

  • 1. In a salted skillet, brown ground beef with onion over medium heat, breaking up meat with a fork to crumble it fine. Drain off fat. Add remaining ingredients, except ketchup. Mix well, then add enough ketchup to keep mixture loose. Simmer, partially covered, 1 hour, adding ketchup as needed
