Steps:
- 1. Gather your ingredients:
- 2. In a medium skillet, brown the meat and stir till crumbly. Drain the fat. Add the taco spices, blend well.
- 3. In a small bowl, combine the broth and flour. Add to the meat mixture; bring to a boil to slightly thicken liquid. Stir in sour cream and chiles; blend well.
- 4. In 13 x 9 x 2 inch lightly greased baking dish, place half of the chips. Top with 1/2 of the beef mixture, 1/2 of the cheese, and half of the green onions. Layer again, ending with the green onions.
- 5. Bake uncovered, in a 375 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting.
- 6. When I make a double batch of this, it works nicely in an aluminum, throw away roaster. If you make this for a party, I would suggest you double the batch; you won't have any left..Seriously! And naturally you would bake it longer. I baked mine until the cheese is golden brown.. Serve with a dollop of sour cream and salsa.
- 7. I wanted to update this with the chicken version I made tonight.Instead of ground beef, I coarsely ground 1 pound of chicken breasts in my food processor. I also was out of green onions, so I chopped about 1/2 cup of onions and browned in with the chicken...I topped it with red jalapeno slices..So the illustrated pics that you see are for the chicken version...
