Deconstructed Cabbage Roll Casserole image

Number Of Ingredients 13

1/2 pound Bulk Italian Sausage (I used hot)
1/2 cup Chopped onion
1/2 cup Red bell pepper
2 cloves Garlic, minced
1/2 head Green cabbage, chopped
8 ounces Tomato sauce
1 cup Cooked rice
2 teaspoons Worcestershire
1 teaspoon Brown sugar
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
1 pinch Salt to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Spray casserole dish (use the blue one)
  • 2. Heat skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir sausage in the skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
  • 3. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the sausage. Cook until onion is translucent, 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in cabbage and cook until slightly softened, about 5 minutes.
  • 4. Transfer sausage mixture to prepared casserole dish. Add tomato sauce, cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, Cajun seasoning, s & p. Stir to combine.
  • 5. Baked in 350 degree oven until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes.
