Darn Good Loaded Crockpot BBQ Beans image

We love BBQ beans with steak, hamburger, chicken, pork or just about anything thing you toss on the grill. We actually could make a meal off of these beans! I often get asked for the recipe so today I measured! I usually cook them in the oven but today I decided to try my BBQ beans in the crockpot and they came out perfect....

Time 2h30m

Number Of Ingredients 15

6 slice bacon (i used hickory smoked), fried and crumbled
1 lb lean ground beef
1 c onions, chopped
1/2 c bell pepper, chopped
1 (28-oz) can baked beans (i used bush's original
1 (16-oz) can lima beans (i used a pint of canned lima's)
1/2 c ketchup
1/2 c of your favorite bbq sauce (i used sweet baby rays original)
2 to 3 Tbsp yellow mustard
1/4 c packed brown sugar (i used dark)
2 to 3 Tbsp white vinegar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp everglades seasoning (or your favorite seasoning salt)
1 to 2 tsp red pepper flakes, optional (some like hot, some like it hotter)
fresh ground pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Fry bacon; crumble and set aside. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, stirring until crumbly; drain. I added onion and bell pepper to the meat. NOTE: You can saute the onion and bell pepper in bacon grease if you prefer and then add to meat.
  • 2. Combine the cooked ground beef mixture with the remaining ingredients (except the bacon) in a crock-pot, mixing well. NOTE: I always spray the crock with PAM for easier cleanup.
  • 3. Cook on high for 2 to 2 1/2 hours (or on low for 4 to 5 hours). Add fried bacon last 30 minutes of cooking time.
  • 4. NOTE: If you don't have a crockpot, no problem, just cook over a low to medium heat on top or the stove. Or in the oven at 325 degrees for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours (uncovered). Serve with your favorite meat off the grill! Enjoy!
