Crystal Pound cake image

my mother made the BEST Crystal Pound Cake, because the outside of her cake would crystalize. I have yet to achieve this on mine. It needs no icing. And is wonderful warm from the oven.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 cup(s) sugar
1 cup(s) shortening
5 - eggs
3 cup(s) flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1 tablespoon(s) vanilla extract
1 cup(s) buttermilk

Steps:

  • Cream shortening and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition add vanilla.
  • Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Add alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.
  • Pour into greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean. Turn out onto cake plate, let cool. Enjoy!
