CREAMY SKILLET CABBAGE WITH BACON image

This dish is interesting and unique, a new way to use cabbage and bacon, two of my food faves. Also very little prep time and you don't have to heat up the kitchen by using the oven. Awesome! Recipe & photo: kraftrecipes.com 02-10-15

1/2 c zesty italian dressing
6 slice bacon, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
8 c shredded green cabbage (1 small head)
2 c shredded red cabbage
1 c chicken broth
1/2 c sour cream
1/2 c dry roasted peanuts, coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • 1. In a large skillet heat dressing over medium-high heat. Add bacon and onion; stir. Cook 5 to 7 minutes or until bacon is cooked and onions are tender, stirring occasionally.
  • 2. Add cabbage and broth; stir. Cook 10 minutes or until cabbage is wilted, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  • 3. Stir in sour cream and top with peanuts. NOTE: I would reheat after adding sour cream, before adding peanuts.
