Creamy Bacon Bites image

This recipe comes from Recipes from the Heart Cookbook--a book from The Pampered Chef. Who can resist bacon? Cream cheese? Yum--it gets even better! Crescent rolls. Very easy appetizer too. Also, lower fat substitutions.

1 package(s) (3 oz.) cream cheese or light (neufchatel) cream cheese, softened
4 slice(s) regular bacon or turkey bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
2 tablespoon(s) chopped onion
1/8 teaspoon(s) black pepper
1 package(s) (8 ozs.) refrigerated crescent rolls, regular or reduced-fat

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, combine first 4 ingredients.
  • Separate crescent dough into 2 rectangles; press seams and perforations together, with fingers to seal.
  • Spread cream cheese mixture onto rectangles; roll up, starting with longest sides. Press seams together to seal.
  • Cut each roll, into 16 slices; place, cut-side down, on prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 32 appetizers.
